By now, you should have come to the realization that photography is all about capturing a subject in ‘good light’. You should see that photos taken in ‘good light’ are often more captivating that those that are not. In addition, photos that contain shadows that enhance a subject are often more appealing.

For assignment #2, you will be required to capture a scene/subject that contains both elements of light and shadow. Your goal should be to enhance a scene/subject by using light and shadow. There is no limitation for your subject.

Regulations: Final ‘PRINTversion’ should be 8x12 by 300ppi. ‘WEBversion’ should be 8x5.33 by 100ppi.

Your assignment will be graded on the following criteria:

COMPOSITION (25pts): How well is the photograph composed? Is it appropriate for the subject? Does the composition enhance the center of interest?

LIGHT (25pts): What is the quality of light? Is this fitting for the subject? Does the light enhance the subject?

CREATIVITY (15pts): Does the photograph display original thought?

TECHNIQUE (15pts): Is the photograph ‘properly’ exposed? Are highlights and shadows appropriately exposed?

PROCESSING (10pts): Is the processing appropriate for the subject matter? Does the processing enhance the image?

EFFORT (10pts): Did the photographer apply himself/herself to the best of their ability?
